Daily Routines are Good!
/With our school start date approaching, my family is starting to think about building in a light schedule to help us “ease” back into a routine. It’s often this time of year, when I start reminding myself of all the benefits to having a routine in our daily lives. Letting go of alarm-clock free, rarely scheduled days is sometimes hard for my family and myself, but putting little routines back into our lives, is very helpful in this transition.
Benefits of daily routines
Bonds the family together
Helps kids understand what to expect and what is important
Establishes expectations
Children begin to know their activities and become “partners” in the routines
Gives your child confidence and independence
Kids feel empowered by learning how to take care of themselves and their needs
Establishes healthy habits
This helps us ALL manage our time more efficiently and have more self-discipline
Helps us remember the important things
This helps decrease stress and increase more quality time
Provides opportunities to get excited about upcoming activities
For example, my family always has pizza on Friday nights while we watch a movie or play board games.
Gives stability during times of change or stress
Feeling a sense of normalcy within the family routine, offers calmness and stability during times of change, like beginning a new school year! Especially, the beginning of this year, with its many uncertainties.
Let’s embrace the upcoming transition of being more scheduled, while we remember all of the benefits that routines bring to us and our families!
